PANERAI AND RAZER PARTNER WITH CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL ASIA-PACIFIC TO SUPPORT MANTA RAY CONSERVATION

 

As a brand whose legacy is inextricably connected to underwater exploration, improving the oceans’ health is critical to Panerai.

 

To this end, Panerai and Razer -the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers- who share the same commitment to ocean preservation, have partnered with Conservation International Asia-Pacific to proudly support their vital research on marine species.

 

The partnership will focus on satellite tagging manta rays to gather data — including temperature, depth, and location – which, when paired with known hazards and other information, can be used to inform conservation management of the animals and their habitat.

 

The manta ray programme is led by Conservation International’s world-renowned coral reef ecologist and marine conservationist Dr. Mark Erdmann, who said, ‘The data from our ongoing research on manta rays has led to the development of sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities, supported the creation of new protected areas, and informed policy changes that protect these species and their ocean environment. We are excited to extend this program together with Panerai and Razer.’

 

This initiative will contribute as well to the “Panerai Ocean Conservation Initiative” mission developed in partnership with IOC-UNESCO in the framework of the ocean literacy programme of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

THE OCEAN LITERACY 

 

Panerai has forged a partnership with IOC-UNESCO – the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO - to develop the Ocean Literacy, a global educational and awareness raising program to empower as many people as possible to become agent of change and ocean stewards in the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). It is a two-year collaboration project dedicated to education, citizen science and industry involvement.

 

To address the issue of education, Panerai launched “Panerai Ocean Conservation Initiative” a worldwide campaign among 100 universities in the world to enlighten students on how a luxury brand, like Panerai, can be a force for good for the planet thanks to its serious commitment towards sustainability
